Georgina McCabe 1860-1932
Georgina “Jane” McCabe was the daughter of Irish Catholic Peter McCabe, a gas fitter who moved to Leith in 1841 at the age of 18.
This 1930 photo shows Jane (right), her daughter Janet Chapman Munro (left), my nana Georgina “Jean” Greenan (standing), and my mum Janet Chapman Munro Greenan Robertson (baby). Each one a “fierce wumman”.
Jane McCabe and Janet Munro were rope workers; my nana worked at the Cardboard Box Works with her sister Mary.
The Roperie burned in 1935 and fireman used six miles of hose to put out the fire.
The maternal chain continues with Lucy Louise Robertson Pidcock 1994
