Meet Callum Moffat

Here’s nephew Callum, the youngest in the Moffat line and my research assistant. He and fiancé Sophie live with their cats Coco and Muffin in Bilston, just south of Edinburgh. Callum works in development at Edinburgh University.

In the background is Edinburgh Castle, where our grandmother Jean Robertson (nee Greenan) worked in the 1950s as a cleaning lady.

Callum and Sophie love visiting ancestral haunts. Sophie is descended from Robert the Bruce! For a brief period in the summer of 2020 I thought we were too and got everyone excited - but for naught. Alas…

Here’s my brother David with Marina, daughter Holly and husband Liam, and the latest member of the clan, Evie.

Callum is only 20 minutes away from where our earliest known ancestors lived.

James Dickson and Isobel Bell were married in 1605 and their second child Marion Dickson was born in October 1608 in Prestonpans, East Lothian.
